Being able to paint realistic looking portraits with an Airbrush requires some experience, the right techniques and a good eye.

Not to mention the amount of time that an artist must spend on trial and errors in order to reach a certain level of mastery in painting convincing faces.

Realistic Portraits are the harder things to paint in nature. Finding the perfect balance of values, keeping the right shapes and expression, achieve the true likeness, all these things requires years and years of studies and practice.

Things get harder once you start working with Skin Tones in color, because the many delicate variations and color nuances differ from person to person, there is no magic formula.

All these things may sound scary at a glance and can lower your enthusiasm for learning if you never painted a portrait.

In this case, the best investment is to reach a real Master in this craft and study with him/her in their atelier.

The key to become a great painter is studying and with the help of a great teacher, someone who can give you the strong bases and the right advices, this really speeds things up in the right direction. A Master who is willing to share all the secrets of the trade with their pupils.
